Meet my son.
I haven't looked at this picture in several months and it gets me all excited to "really" meet him in a few weeks!!!
Anyway, I haven't blogged much at all about this pregnancy, so I thought you'd enjoy a little baby boy details.
How Far Along: 33 weeks
Size of baby:
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 30 lbs (whew, I can't believe I just admitted that on the internet. I'm pretty sure my thighs are carrying 10 extra pounds each haha! Can't wait to start walking and working back down to normal size in the Spring!!) BUT I will say at my last appointment I had only gained a half of a pound. After 2 appointments in a row of 6-8lbs, I was praising the Lord that it's starting to slow down.
Maternity Clothes: I am at that point where nothing other than maternity clothes fit and I'm even outgrowing the maternity clothes that I have. I had to go pick up one pair of medium pants to last me these last few weeks the other day.
Gender: It's a BOY!
Movement: This little guy has done some crazy moving around lately. So much so that he's flipped himself over into breech position. (More on this later)
Sleep: I'm sleeping pretty good! I get up once a night to use the bathroom, but other than that, it's not too bad.
What I miss: My smaller body. Moving around/rolling over/getting up with ease.
Cravings: ICE ICE ICE AND MORE ICE.
Symptoms: Aside from the big belly?? ha, um frequent trips to the bathroom, craving ice like woah, nesting is setting in, and lately I've been having trouble sleeping.
Best Moment this week: hm that's a tough one. Honestly, it's been a bit of a stressful week for me as we found out that he's breech. (again, more on that below) but best moment? I'll go with....So the breech dilemma. At my appointment this past Tuesday, my midwife discovered that our little guy is breech. She reassured me that she's not nervous at this point - there's still plenty of time and room for him to get head down. To encourage him to do that, she gave me some exercises to do. I have struggled emotionally with this a bit as the week has gone on. It's a hard place to be in since I really have no control. I can do my exercises, but I can't make him turn. There's no set of steps I can do that will guarantee a result and that's a tough pill to swallow. The other thing that I've struggled with is worrying everything's alright. A few of the websites I came across in researching things I can do to help mentioned that occasionally breech position is indicative of some birth defects. I am not the greatest at remembering to take my prenatal pills so that little fact fed right into my fear and it keeps nagging at me. I'm daily (ok hourly) having to renew my mind and think on truth. If you think of it and wouldn't mind praying with me firstly that I would surrender my desire for control and tendency to fear and trust completely that God is in control and he's "got this." That's the phrase I keep getting when I pray...."I've (God's) got this." Secondly, if you could join me in praying that the baby would turn into head down position and stay there! :) Thanks girls. I really do appreciate it. I will try to update on here or on facebook after my next appointment on March 8th.
And to wrap up....a few Emma stories.
-Two days ago, while I took my shower, she decided to dump all of the contents of the bathroom trashcan into the toilet bowl. Picture diapers, Qtips, old lotion container, tissues....a mess.
-Tonight I was rubbing Jarred's feet and Emma came over the couch. You should know that I love my husband, but his feet are not his best attribute. They are very very very calloused, cracking, and peeling. Rubbing those things are an act of love my friends. Anyway, Emma walks over and reaches out to tickle his toes and then stops and looks closer and says "Yuckies!" haha I couldn't stop laughing. Yes girlfriend, they are yuckies a little bit.
